Joyce Louise Bertermann (nee Miller), 74, of Mt. Prospect passed away after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19, 2016. Joyce was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 26, 1941 and was the oldest child of Lt. Col. William and Loretta Miller of Elwood, IL.  Her siblings included; the late Barbara Puls, Nancy (John) Lang, Carol (Bernard) Schroeder, William (Donna) Miller, and Deborah (John) Konc. Joyce is survived by her husband Ralph Bertermann.  They were united in marriage on September 12, 1964 in Wilmington, IL. Their first date was at Stateville Prison where her choir and Ralphs’ sang for the inmates on Reformation Sunday. The marriage was blessed with three children; Daniel (Laura) Bertermann, Kristen (Paul) Voida, and Rebecca (Mark) Lechwar.  It was also blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren; Madeline and Payton Bertermann, Kaitlyn and Karissa Voida, and Charlotte (Charli) and Ashlyn Lechwar. Joyce loved her family with her whole heart and was never happier than when surrounded by her children and grandchildren, dancing with them to Little Darlin or making mish mash in the kitchen.  Joyce was an avid reader and her favorite job was working at the Mount Prospect Library.  She traveled internationally, growing up in a military family and having a husband that loved to travel and go camping.  She also sang in choirs throughout her life and attended women’s bible classes.

Visitation Friday, 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. (at Northwest Highway) Mt. Prospect.

Visitation continues Saturday 12:00 PM until Funeral Services 1:00 PM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights, IL 6004.
